The Aquatic Coleoptera Conservation Trust

The Trust (ACCT for short) was set up in 2003. ACCT’s aims are:

  • to address conservation issues associated with the UK Biodiversity Action Plan (UKBAP) in relation to wetland ecosystems (See BAP species)
  •  to promote research on wetland beetles (Coleoptera) either with Species Action Plans or recognised within Habitat Action Plans and Group Plans under the UK BAP
  • to raise the profile of wetland beetles by using the results of research to refine conservation management advice
  • to support the National Biodiversity Network (NBN) Gateway and similar UK-wide initiatives by providing data and interpretation of data
