Description

Size: 3.5-4.5mm
Basic colour: Uniformaly brassy black, surfaced dulled by fine microsculpture.
Leg colour: Dark brown or black.
Confusion species: Dyschirius thoracicus

Extremly local -  Sussex, Kent and Norfolk in England. Lough Neagh in Ireland. Sometimes abundant.

Biology

Status: Possibly a recent introduction or reintroduction from Europe into south-east England.
RDB Category: Endangered
Habitat: On damp bare sand near standing water in gravel pits and lakes.
