Description

Length: 1.8-2.2mm.  Basic colour: black.  Pattern: none, or paler strip at rear of elytre.  Number of spots: 0. Pronotum: reddish-brown with black patch at base (male); black (female).  Head colour: reddish-brown (male); black (female).  Leg colour: reddish-brown.  Other features: hairy; reddish-brown antennae and mouthparts.

Biology

Habitats: heathland and other dry habitats. Host plants: low-growing vegetation. Food: aphids. Overwintering sites: low herbage and moss.
