The Register in the Castle Museum, Norwich records that Gurney gave 200 British Coleoptera to the Museum in 1851 and 6 foreign examples in the following year. He was also involved in the Sparshall gift to the Museum in 1845. Perhaps this is the Joseph Gurney of Grove, Lakenham who subscribed for two copies of Denny (1825).
