NEVINSON, Edward Bonney

Brother of Basil George Nevinson (see above). Born at Leicester and educated at Shrewsbury School . Had a wide ranging interest in natural history. In entomology he studied firstly Lepidoptera and then Coleoptera, Neuroptera and Hymenoptera. Some time in the 1890s he bought a strip of Wicken Fen which he transferred to the National Trust shortly before his death. Sold a collection of birds, Lepidoptera and Coleoptera at Stevens on 31 May and 1 June 1927. This included: lot 610 ‘British Coleoptera a large number of carded specimens with data, seven 10 inch store boxes and contents’; lot 611 ‘ditto, chiefly duplicates, eleven boxes’; lot 612 ‘ditto, named, seven boxes.’ A further collection was sold on 13 November, 1929 lots 233-246.
