Description

Size: 7-8.5mm
Basic colour: Shining blue or green metallic.
Pronotoum: Elongate and narrower than the head, cylindrical without defined side margins.
Leg colour: Brown.

Biology

Status: Scarce. Local in Dorset and the Isle of Wight.
RDB Category: Endangered
Habitat: Coastal, partly vegetated sandy cliffs and slippages near fresh water.
Other notes: Apex of first antennal segment longer than third antennal segment sometimes also darkened. First antennal segment longer than head, swollen apically, second segment small. Tarsi with fourth segment bilobed. Mandibles elongate and protruding and protruding. Eyes large and almost hemispherical. Elytra broad, widening apically with with strongly punctured striae; apical margin slightly sinuate.
