Description

Size: 3.2-3.7mm
Basic colour: Brown.
Pattern colour: Head black, elytra straw-coloured with a dark transverse band sub-apically; this extends forwards medially along the suture, and backwards laterally to include the apical angles of the elytra. Underside of the abdomen black or dark brown.
Pronotoum: Bright reddish.
Leg colour: Pale.

Biology

Status: Scarce. Local along the English south coast from Cornwall to Kent, occasionally inland, Essex and Suffolk.
UKBAP Species: Yes
Habitat: Partly vegetated dry sand or shingle near the coast.
Other notes: Elytra with shoulders rounded, sides also rounded, widest just behind middle; striae distinct with fine punctures. Wings absent.
