Description
Size: 8-9.5mm
Basic colour: Brown
Pattern colour: Head red-brown, elytra dark black-brown with an elongate pale area covering most of intervals 3-6 except the extreme apices.
Pronotoum: Red-brown. Densely punctured, not transverse, hind angles sharp but slightly obtuse.

Biology
Status: Declining. Local and usually coastal in the extreme south and east of England.

Habitat: Cracks and crevices, usually in clay soils or cliff bases but also on sandy or gravelly soils.
Other notes: Dorsal surface flat and pubescent throughout. Antennae entirely pubescent, basal segment wider than the remainder. Tarsal claws not toothed. Head sparsely but very strongly punctured; strongly contracted behind the protruding eyes, which have a strong row of curved hairs behind. Elytra densely punctured, intervals flat; apices transversely truncate. Wings present.
