Description

Size: 6.2-9mm
Basic colour: Coppery or greenish.
Pattern colour: Elytra with longitudinal metallic blue and/or reddish band.
Number of spots: None
Pronotoum: As basic colour
Leg colour: May be as basic colour, or darker, sometimes with small reddish-brown areas.

Palaearctic, including North Africa.

Biology

Status: Widespread and can be locally abundant.
Habitat: Among reeds and bulrushes in various wet habitats.
Host plant: Bur-reeds (Sparganium spp.) and bulrushes (Typha latifolia), also on other water plants.
Overwintering: Three-year life cycle, overwintering as adults in cocoons.
Food: Adults on leaves, larvae probably on roots.
